Start-up visas are for individuals who wish to set up a business in the UK.
In order to obtain a Start-up visa you must receive an appropriate endorsement, from a UK higher education institution or one of list of businesses authorised by the Home Office, confirming the viability of your business idea.
With this type of visa, you can bring your family members if you wish to, provided they meet the relevant requirements.
You will need to pass an English language test (unless you are coming from an English-speaking country or you have a university degree which was taught in English). You must also be able to support yourself and any dependants by showing a minimum amount of funds for living needs.
Start-up visas are granted for 2 years and cannot be renewed. Thereafter you can apply to switch to an Innovator Visa.
