James is a Consultant at Joelson specialising in construction and engineering law. Formerly a Partner at Boodle Hatfield, James qualified as a solicitor in 1996 having undertaken his training with first hand construction industry experience training at Taylor Woodrow plc. His practice covers a wide spectrum of commercial development, residential and mixed-use construction and development projects acting for developers, funders, contractors and consultants.
He has particular expertise in the drafting and negotiation of all forms of building and civil engineering contracts, development and funding agreements, professional appointments, warranties and related project documentation. In addition he advises on all methods of construction procurement including strategic framework and/or partnering strategies.
James is a member of the Society of Construction Law and regular contributor to articles in the construction press and speaker at construction law conferences.
Outside work James enjoys travelling, theatre and participates as a reading mentor to help children with reading difficulties.
