Joelson, the leading London law firm, has advised the company and management of Addison Lee on its acquisition by ComfortDelGro, a leading multi-modal mobility operator. The team at Joelson have worked with Liam Griffin and the management team at Addison Lee for over 20 years and this transaction illustrates the heritage and strength of that long standing relationship with Addison Lee.
Joelson advised Liam and the management team in 2020, when he and the team returned to the business with the clear goal of Addison Lee regaining its position as London’s most trusted, reliable and professional ground transport provider.
The team at Joelson, led by Managing Partner Phil Hails-Smith, has been involved in all legal support to Addison Lee since, including advising on the acquisitions of ComCab London in 2021 and Green Tomato Cars in 2023 which has allowed Addison Lee to significantly scale operations and meet the growing demand in the city for premium, reliable transport.
The deal with ComfortDelGro illustrates the continued commitment to further expansion into the wider UK premium segment and beyond.
The Joelson team was led by Managing Partner, Phil Hails-Smith who was supported by Senior Associate, Charlie Pattihis and Associate, Elizabeth Roberts.
Liam Griffin, Chief Executive Officer of Addison Lee, commented:
“A big thank you to Phil, Charlie and Libby and the rest of the team at Joelson. They have guided us on every step of our journey since we came back into the business on lockdown day in 2020 and advised management on this sale to ComfortDelGro. We have worked with Joelson for over 20 years now through many transactions and other challenges along the way. I’m very much looking forward to continuing this relationship with Joelson as we look to grow with ComfortDelGro as our new owners.”
Phil Hails-Smith, Partner at Joelson, added:
“We are delighted to have advised our long-standing client Addison Lee on this transaction. This illustrates Joelson’s pre-eminent position in advising and supporting management on transactions of this nature. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Liam and the whole management team at Addison Lee throughout this time and in particular over the last few months on this great transaction. Congratulations, and we are sure that the tie up with ComfortDelGro will ensure the continued growth of the Addison Lee brand throughout the UK and Europe.”
