Joelson advises Rivan Industries on £25m Series A fundraise

Posted Wednesday 29th April 2026

Joelson, the leading London law firm, has advised Harvey Hodd and his team at Rivan Industries, the UK‑based synthetic fuel company, on its £25 million Series A funding round, supporting the company’s next phase of growth as it scales production of carbon‑neutral synthetic fuels for hard‑to‑electrify industries.

Founded in London in 2024 by serial entrepreneur Harvey Hodd, Rivan develops vertically integrated systems that convert renewable energy, captured carbon dioxide and hydrogen into synthetic natural gas (SNG) that is fully compatible with existing gas infrastructure. The business is focused on strengthening Europe’s energy security while reducing emissions in sectors such as heavy industry, chemicals and manufacturing – removing gigatonnes of CO2 from the air in the process.

The Series A round was led by IQ Capital, with participation from existing investor Plural, alongside 20VC and a number of prominent angel investors. The funding will be used to deploy Europe’s largest synthetic natural gas plant, expand Rivan’s manufacturing capabilities in London and significantly grow its engineering team.

Joelson advised Rivan throughout the transaction, providing comprehensive corporate and fundraising legal advice. The Joelson team was led by Partner Matthew Overton, supported by Associate Sylvia Lau and Solicitor Katie Braddell.

Harvey Hodd, Founder and CEO of Rivan Industries, commented:

“This fundraise is a major milestone for Rivan, and we are delighted to have had Matt and the Joelson team supporting us. Their commercial insight, responsiveness and clear understanding of growth‑stage technology businesses – and their passion for supporting impact-focussed companies – made the process highly efficient from start to finish.”

Matthew Overton, Partner at Joelson, added:

“We are immensely proud to have supported Harvey and the Rivan team on this successful Series A round, swiftly following their equally successful seed round. Rivan are building a truly compelling solution to some of the most difficult – and important – challenges facing the energy transition, and it has been a pleasure to continue to support them as they take this next important step towards scaling their technology.”
