The Immigration Health Surcharge will apply to the majority of individuals applying for a visa with a duration exceeding 6 months. Our immigration team would be able to confirm whether any exceptions to this apply upon instruction. The current Surcharge is as follows:-
The Surcharge is payable in full at the time the application is submitted (e.g a five-year visa application for an adult applicant would incur a fee of £5175) and this would need to be factored into overall costs.
VAT is not applied to our legal fees for clients based outside of Europe at the time of instruction.
Visa application fees, and related costs, are subject to review and may be changed at any time by the Home Office. All fees and information set out in the above table are correct as of June 2024. Our fees for assisting with immigration matters are also reviewed regularly and may be increased from time to time.
Key stages:
The fees above relate to the following key stages of an application:
How long your matter takes is very much dependant on the volume of supporting documentation and how long it takes to collate this and to prepare the application. If the application is relatively straightforward and the documents are readily available, then the pre-application process can take as little as a week. For more complex applications with more voluminous supporting documentation, this pre-application stage might take up to three months. Once the application has been submitted, the timescale is entirely at the discretion of the Home Office. The Home Office publishes broad timescales of between three and six months. Some visas may be obtained by a premium service, details of which we can provide once we have considered your instructions. Please note that the timescales provided are only a rough estimate and a more accurate timescale can be provided once we are better acquainted with the specifics of your case.
