Happy Eid ul Fitr 2021!

Tharek, one of our Real Estate Associates, has shared with us his thoughts and traditions regarding Eid.

What does Eid mean to you and your family?

It’s a day of celebration, after fasting for 30 days it is a joyous occasion whereby we dress up in new clothes, attend the mosque for prayers, provide Eid presents to family, attend a lot of houses of relatives and friends and most importantly eat our weight in food!

How do you normally celebrate Eid?

I normally wake up really early to pray Fajr and then off to the mosque with my family for Eid prayer. We would finish and then head back to my mum’s whereby she would have a full table full of food for breakfast. We would eat and then go round to all of our friends and families houses and celebrate Eid with them.

What is your favourite traditional food and drink to enjoy during the Eid?

I am a sucker for kebabs and fried pakoras. My mum always makes them on Eid and then my Aunty will make these decadent beef puff pastries which is a must have!

Do you have a fond memory from a previous year, you would like to share?

It would have to be going over to my Aunt’s house as a child, every year all four families would head off to my Aunt’s house and the house would be full of food, laughter and kids running around!

What is your favourite thing about Eid?

It would have to be giving Eid presents to my little boy and spending a day with my wife, parents, in laws and celebrating Eid, but also remembering Ramadan and carrying on the spirit of Ramadan throughout the year.

Eid Mubarak to all celebrating this year!
