Guy Francis

Guy is a Commercial associate within the Corporate and Commercial team having joined Joelson in February 2020.

Having worked as a commercial director and as a lawyer both in-house and in private practice, Guy is able to offer clients a unique perspective and practical, down-to-earth legal advice. Guy has experience advising upon on a wide range of issues with a particular focus on supply agreements, franchising, manufacturing agreements, cross-border trade, tech and IT development, concession agreements, data protection and GDPR compliance, advertising, consultancy agreements and IP licencing.

Examples of Guy’s recent notable work includes:

• negotiating a series of complex SAAS agreements with large institutional real estate investors for the provision of an ESG monitoring platform
• advising a software developer on an option agreement with a multinational telecoms operator
• drafting a distribution agreement for a British fashion house exporting to China
• negotiating a high value IT outsourcing agreement for a CRM platform involving complex cross border personal data transfers
• acting for a well-known taxi and courier service provider on various ground transport and passenger services agreements entered into with blue-chip clients
• advising an events company on various issues concerning force majeure and frustration arising out of Covid related cancellations and rescheduling

Prior to joining Joelson, Guy was the Commercial Director at a large importer based in Beijing and has experience working as a solicitor at a large travel retail business having trained at a leading Silver Circle law firm. Guy also has experience of working on a variety of corporate transactions.

Guy speaks Mandarin Chinese at an advanced level.
