The Standard Visitor visa has replaced the previous General Visitor visa, Business Visitor visa, Family Visitor visa, Sports Visitor visa, Entertainer Visitor visa, Prospective Entrepreneur visa, Child Visitor visa, Private Medical Treatment Visitor visa and ADS visa.
You can now apply for a Standard Visitor visa if you want to visit the UK for leisure, business or for other reasons such as receive private medical treatment. The Standard Visitor visa is normally granted for up to 6 months, however, you can apply for a visa that lasts 1, 2, 5 or 10 years if you can prove that you need to visit the UK regularly over a longer period.
This type of visa does not provide a basis for leave to remain in the future.
